Platelet-rich plasma procedure

Platelet-rich plasma is used as a filler to rejuvenate the face and refresh the skin. During this process, a small amount of blood is taken from the person, which is processed in a special device. Finally, a platelet concentrate is extracted from this collected blood, which is injected into problematic areas of the face. Activated platelets stimulate cell renewal and multiplication, thus the platelet concentrate procedure leads to skin rejuvenation.

The procedure is applied to:

• Compare wrinkles;
• Restore skin firmness;
• Remove pigmentation spots;
• Soften the visibility of scars;
• Reduce enlarged pores.

Procedure process

During the platelet concentrate procedure, a small amount of the patient's own blood (usually between 30 to 60 ml) is taken from a vein, which is placed in a special disposable container, and this is centrifuged for 15 minutes. With the help of the centrifuge, the blood in the container separates into different components, among which the platelet concentrate needed for the mentioned procedure is isolated. The extracted platelets can exceed the platelet count by up to 9 times compared to the amount in normal blood volume.
The platelets in the blood activate natural stem cells that circulate in the facial tissues, thereby stimulating the patient's own skin cells. This promotes the production of collagen and elastin, thus causing a rejuvenating effect on the facial skin.
Upon arrival for the procedure, your facial skin will be covered with a local anesthetic cream, numbing the facial skin during the injections. As soon as the autologous platelet concentrate is prepared, the doctor will perform an injection with a thin, short needle (3–4 mm), injecting the obtained product directly into the necessary facial points, aiming to stimulate the facial skin regeneration processes. The average duration of the treatment is about 45 minutes. During this time, the doctor will perform numerous small injections into the facial skin, focusing on the most problematic areas of the skin.

After the procedure

After the procedure, the facial skin may be sensitive, red, painful, swollen, so to alleviate these symptoms, cold compresses are applied. There may be slight bruising or hematomas at the injection sites.
The effect of the injection begins to become noticeable after 2–3 weeks. To maintain the maximum effect continuously, it is recommended to undergo the procedure at least once a year, and if possible, twice. This procedure is especially effective when combined with a fat transfer procedure.

When choosing a procedure among different clinics, be sure to pay attention not only to the price but also to the recommended repetition period. Often, a lower price means that the procedure will be performed with a lower concentration of platelets, so it will need to be repeated more frequently, sometimes even 3 times a year. The injection preparation equipment available at GP clinic allows for the extraction of a very high platelet concentrate, making the procedure more expensive, but you can enjoy the results for much longer.
