Brow lift

Operation duration: 30 minutes – 1 hour
Insensitive: Local or general
Post-operative care: Outpatient or inpatient
Repeat operation: Performed one or more times, as needed and desired
Results: 5–10 years old
Tuning: Often performed in conjunction with facelift or eyelid surgery

A brow lift is performed when the first signs of aging appear. It is most commonly needed by people between the ages of 40 and 60, but recently, younger patients have been choosing these surgeries and procedures. This is due to a faster pace of life and stress levels, which are the main causes of aging. A brow lift is often performed in conjunction with smoothing forehead wrinkles.

Eyebrow lift surgery is more often needed by people who are very emotional and expressive, as their forehead muscles are constantly working. All of these people's experiences, moods, and emotions are reflected on their faces, as they illustrate their words with various facial expressions. Eyebrow lifts are also performed on patients whose eyebrows and foreheads are set very low from birth. Lifting the eyebrows (forehead) rejuvenates the face and makes it appear less tired than before.

Brow lift

Very often eyebrow lift It is performed in conjunction with a facelift, upper eyelid surgery, and lower eyelid correction. During a brow lift surgery, a long incision is made behind the hairline or in front of it. After healing, this incision is invisible because the scar is hidden by hair. The surgeon removes or adjusts part of the muscles that cause wrinkles, as well as removes excess skin and lifts the eyebrows. After tightening the skin, it is attached to the bone.

A brow lift surgery is performed under sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the specific situation of each patient, which is discussed with the plastic surgeon before the operation. This surgery is not long and lasts from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

After surgery

A few hours after the surgery, the patient can be discharged home. In some cases, they may be kept at the clinic overnight. Swelling and bruising are visible for about 10-14 days after surgery. Bruising may also appear around the eyes, and numbness or itching may be felt at the healed incision sites for some time. Sutures are removed approximately one week after surgery. Rest is recommended during the first and second weeks, depending on how the person feels, and physical activity can be resumed after 3-4 weeks. As the swelling gradually subsides, the results of the surgery become apparent: smoother forehead skin, lifted eyebrows, which also slightly lift the upper eyelids, a youthful and alert look, and softened deep wrinkles between the eyebrows.

The results of the operation can be enjoyed for 5 to 10 years.

Doctor's comment

Brow lift surgery has been very popular among young patients for the past few decades; „lifted“ eyebrows were a fashionable facial expression. Recently, the demand for this surgery, especially among younger people, has decreased as the understanding of facial aesthetics has changed. It is now understood that eyebrow shape and location are determined by a „3D“ principle, rather than just a simple upward pull. As a result, drastic brow lift surgeries that result in a „surprised“ facial expression have been almost abandoned. Currently, „gentler“ eyebrow correction methods have become more popular, using special lifting threads, various fillers, and fat grafting. I personally prefer to combine the „3D“ principle for eyebrow area correction, utilizing fat grafting, tissue fillers, lifting threads, and moderate surgical procedures.
