Starting around the age of 35, the first noticeable age-related changes can appear on a person's face: facial tissues begin to sag, and the first deeper wrinkles emerge. When such minor changes become apparent, it's not necessary to immediately opt for „facelift“ surgery; the face can be „refreshed“ with a relatively simple and minimally invasive procedure – a thread lift. These surgical threads for the face are very thin and are used to lift facial tissues, providing a very natural look. Medical threads can be used to correct areas of the body such as the cheeks, the lower third of the face, the chin, and lip shape. The result of the thread insertion is visible immediately.

Some surgical threads, like the Silhouette Lift, can be re-tightened after a few years when facial tissues sag again due to the aging process. This is a big advantage because there's no need to insert new threads; the existing ones can be used.

Procedure

Preparation for this minimally invasive procedure is very minimal. Usually, only local anesthesia is sufficient, and the procedure itself takes about half an hour. Using a thin needle, the doctor inserts a thread under the skin at a depth of 3-4 mm and then manually manipulates it into the correct position. Depending on the area being corrected, one to several threads may need to be inserted. After the threads are inserted, scar tissue forms under the skin, which lifts the skin itself, making the face look younger and less tired. Facial threads are effective for several years, after which the procedure can be repeated.

After the procedure

Since the intervention is minimally invasive, minor swelling may be visible after the procedure, and occasionally bruising may occur. These typically resolve within 2 weeks. Small irregularities may be present at the insertion points of the threads, which will disappear within a few weeks.
After thread lifting, facial expressions should be somewhat restricted: avoid strong emotional expression through facial movements, vigorous chewing, and hearty laughter. This is very important because special hooks hold the lifted facial tissues, and strong facial movements can cause the threads to break in those areas.
