Chin correction is performed when there is a desire to change its shape and size. This is most often needed by people who have a long, protruding nose and an inexpressive, small chin. This can be congenital, when a person is born with such facial proportions, or acquired during life, for example, due to trauma or bone resorption during the aging process. Chin corrections can be performed through tissue filler injections, chin implants, or repositioning of the bone.

To enhance the chin with tissue fillers, procedures must be repeated because their effects are temporary. From a financial perspective, such procedures will cost more in the long run than a one-time surgery. However, if you do not want invasive surgery or are unsure if a more prominent chin would suit you, then injections are a great option to see how you would look with a more defined chin. This procedure, where tissue fillers are injected into the chin, is also particularly simple as it does not involve surgical intervention and does not require anesthesia.

Chin augmentation with an implant is a relatively simple operation during which an implant is inserted through the mouth or a small incision under the chin. Implants are made of various materials: silicone, Teflon, or Dacron. After the implant is placed, its position is molded and it is secured to be stable. The procedure takes up to an hour, after which there are no scars and you can quickly return to your daily routine.

Dental correction, changing bone position

Another option for chin augmentation is a bone repositioning surgery. During this procedure, an incision is made inside the mouth, a portion of the chin bone is separated and moved forward, and the new position is secured and stabilized. The advantage of this operation is that the surgeon can reshape the chin using the patient's own bone. Furthermore, there are no visible scars afterward, as all adjustments are made intraorally. The results of this surgery are long-lasting.

After surgery

The results are visible immediately after chin correction surgery, and the final appearance takes shape several weeks after the procedure, once the swelling has subsided. A protective chin brace must be worn immediately after the procedure. Bruising, swelling, numbness, and mild pain may be present initially. You can return to your usual activities after a few days, and begin exercising after one month.

Chin correction is used to correct congenital underdevelopment of the chin and age-related facial changes. In the first case, this operation is often combined with rhinoplasty to achieve facial aesthetic balance and beautiful proportions. Due to age-related changes, chin lengthening was particularly popular in past decades, but currently, the popularity of this correction has decreased – an aesthetically natural look is not always achieved, which is now out of fashion. Recently, the use of tissue fillers (fillers) for chin correction has become very popular. Such correction is easily performed, and the result is significantly softer and more natural.
