Not all women can boast of having identical breasts. In fact, no one has completely identical breasts, but for most, the difference is so slight that it's unnoticeable to the naked eye or doesn't cause much concern. Meanwhile, some women develop significant breast asymmetry, where the difference is clearly visible and causes considerable inconvenience: physical and psychological discomfort, self-doubt, disappointment, and relationship problems. In such cases, breast asymmetry correction can be a solution.
• Breast fat grafting is performed when breast asymmetry is not very significant, but already slightly noticeable, and the woman sees it and is bothered by it. In such cases, it is sufficient to suction fat from the abdomen, thighs, or hips and transfer it to the breast that needs correction, so that it resembles the other breast as closely as possible. More about fat grafting procedures.
• Breast implants. They are used to correct breast asymmetry when the difference between the two breasts is clearly visible. In such cases, breast implants are used to create a proportional appearance. Their size and shape are selected to best match the other breast after implantation and to eliminate asymmetry. More about breast implants.
Breast lift. This technique is used when not only the size of the breasts differs, but also their height. In this case, implants alone will not help, as the position of the nipple on the breast also needs to be corrected. Breast lift surgery can also be combined with breast augmentation using implants. More about breast lift.
• Breast reduction. Breasts are not always made symmetrical to the larger one. When a woman wishes to have a smaller bust, the larger breast undergoes a reduction surgery. More information about breast reduction.
It should be noted that ideal symmetry does not exist in nature, which is why breasts always differ slightly. This depends on the size of the gland itself, chest wall deformities, and the condition of the pectoral muscles. Minor asymmetry is usually not corrected, or if it is slightly more pronounced, it is addressed with liposuction and fat grafting. Larger asymmetries are corrected with different-sized implants; sometimes, this is entirely sufficient to achieve a good result. However, if the areolas are at different heights, additional correction is needed with a lift of the areola complex and sometimes reduction of glandular tissue. This, of course, leaves additional scars around the areola (and sometimes below it), but resolving the issue significantly improves the patient's quality of life and self-confidence.
