Doctor G. Papečkys: I am amazed by the sculptures of ancient Romans and how perfectly they replicate male beauty.

We can notice that the public space often focuses on women's beauty – it receives much more attention. However, we should not forget about men. About the facial features characteristic of men, this year's Eurovision winners„ group vocalist, and more in an interview with the founder of “GP klinika" and plastic surgeon Gintaras Papeckis.

What are the essential facial features, in your professional opinion, that make a man attractive?

The main feature is the jawline: its size and shape. This is one of the signs of masculinity. A masculine face also has sharp angles. Of course, another important area of the face is the nose. Often, men's noses have a bump, pointing slightly downwards. Also, we should not forget to mention the brow ridges, which are prominently expressed, large, and rough. In beauty surgery, these are accepted as characteristics typical of men.

You often emphasize that you admire ancient Romans. Can we see their facial features in modern men?

I am amazed by the sculptures of ancient Romans and how perfectly they replicate male beauty; it is hard to believe that they are over two thousand years old, by unknown authors. The sculptures are very realistic, depicting beautiful, characteristic male faces. It is truly astonishing how ancient Roman sculptors understood and perceived beauty, especially in Europe. To this day, these sculptures captivate all of Europe. It is important to emphasize that I am specifically talking about Roman times, as their sculptures, compared to other contemporary cultures, reflect real faces, the true beauty of nature. What I wanted to lead to with this topic is that beauty is not a matter of taste; nature created male and female faces. This is without improvisation, and all of this has been reflected since ancient times.

Since we have talked about the Romans, let's move on to the present day. Let's talk about this year's Eurovision winner, the vocalist of the group „Måneskin,“ Damiano David. It is no secret that this man has captivated, if not the whole world, then certainly Europe. In your eyes, why is he so attractive to many people?

First of all, it is probably because he is charismatic and has become a star (laughs). All the elements I listed in the answer to the first question apply to this performer. We see pronounced brow ridges, not the eyebrows themselves, but the bony structure. The performer's nose – particularly characteristic of men – has a prominent bump, pointing downwards. His lips are narrow, pursed, and of course, the jawline – it is impeccable here, particularly beautiful, wide, with a nice chin shape. Of course, these factors also contribute: his leanness, the facial silhouette – very masculine, angular. It is precisely these details that give beauty, which is why girls admire him so much.

Perhaps his beauty is somewhat hyperbolized just because of his charisma?

In this case, it seems he won the lottery: both charisma and beauty coincided. (smiles)

You mentioned his nose bump – most people remove it and sometimes even feel self-conscious about it.

Let's note that men are significantly less complex about a nose bump than women. If a man wants to have it surgically removed (which is very rare), I still suggest leaving at least a minimal bump. In my opinion, it is quite charming for a man.

Often when talking about male beauty, we imagine neat, well-groomed men in suits. The vocalist of the Eurovision-winning group is like a complete opposite: high heels, tight clothes, long hair, even makeup. However, many see extraordinary masculinity in him. Why? Is it all due to charisma?

Everything you listed is style, but for me, for example, I liked that his style was not highlighted, because anyone can create a style, but his particularly masculine features shone in the public space. Still, what makes this performer attractive is determined by his, you could say, „frame,“ rather than style, although this also strongly contributes to the whole.
